Virginia Reel with a Twist
Second variation of Virginia Reel with a Twist
I was excited about this challenge because I needed a pieced border for "Virginia Reel with a Twist". I had bought a print fabric that I wanted to use in the border. However, I couldn't find it on the bolt at my local quilt store. So I bought 3 yds worth of half yard cuts. So I don't have enough to do a full length border like I usually do. So I knew I was going to have to piece the border. However, I didn't want to do the typical saw tooth, sharks tooth, picket, chain of squares, etc. Because they would have been too small to show off the gorgeous print I had bought. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's entries. Who knows, I might find an even better border for my Reel. :)
I was still hesitant to submit my project. While I feel my quilts are interesting I'm not completely satisfied with what I have done. I do like the tilted square set in the corners though.
I think I like the first variation best! Is that traditional piecing or paper piecing? It looks fabulous! --LJ.

I suppose it could be done either way. I hadn't thought much about it. The pieces would be awfully big to print off on a printer and paper piece, but the angles would be a lot easier to deal with if paper pieced. Good question. :>
